At the Duncan Neurological Research Institute (Duncan NRI), investigators are dedicated to unraveling the mysteries behind brain disorders and translating their discoveries into improved treatments for complex neurological and psychiatric conditions — in children and adults. This requires collaboration and a multidisciplinary approach that leverages expertise in many areas, from neurology to chemistry to bioinformatics. To that end, Texas Children’s has opened a new Data Science Center on the first floor of the Duncan NRI to serve as a centralized research hub for data scientists in all areas, offering opportunities for interaction among the members of multidisciplinary teams and accelerating scientific discovery. Research at the Duncan NRI spans the spectrum of diseases and includes autism, epilepsy, depression and anxiety, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
